OUR WORK TOGETHER
I believe healing is an unbecoming, a process of letting go of anything that doesn’t belong to you. This may include burdens from traumas or legacies, belief systems that no longer serve you, or ways of being prescribed by larger systems. It’s possible to come home to your Self so that you can stand securely and peacefully amid whatever is swirling around you.
I use a transformative, evidence-based model called Internal Family Systems (IFS), helping people heal by accessing and loving protective and wounded inner parts that have been forced from their valuable states into extreme roles. We might imagine the Self being like the sun and the burdened parts of us like clouds blocking the warmth and light. IFS helps to part the clouds so you can begin to feel the sun again. We’ll welcome the parts of you who are rarely given a voice, and are sometimes kept secret, to emerge and to tell their stories.
It may sound counter intuitive, but by compassionately moving towards your wounds, we can often get some relief - helping these parts to be free from their constraints or burdens and moving towards Self-awareness, Self-love, and a Self-led system. Each of us has a core Self that is incorruptibly good and knows how to heal. When you begin to reclaim your authentic Self, you’ll experience profound shifts in your emotional well-being, relationships, and overall quality of life.
Together with IFS, I weave in the wisdom of Somatic Attachment and, because I am deeply rooted in the 12 Steps of Al-Anon. I find Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to be extremely effective in helping to integrate the skills of acceptance, detachment, boundary setting, and self-advocacy. All these therapeutic modalities work together to support your Self reclamation work.
ALL THE PARTS OF YOU (no matter what you believe or how you love) ARE WELCOME.
